The Lokta notebook is entirely made in Nepal by a small women's cooperative in the city of Kathmandu who manufacture the paper with a mix of simple technology and ancient artisan skills. The notebooks are crafted with handmade paper covers made from the fibruous inner bark of the Lokta bush which grows in the Himalayas at very high altitudes. The covers are silk screen printed and the notebook is finally hand bound using threads. The controlled harvest of the Lokta ensures a sustainable and eco-friendly paper making process. We like the Lokta notebook's natural feel and texture.
Lokta paper is very resistant, and it is often used in Nepal for government or religious texts. Imperfections that may be found on the paper are due to the natural process of their manufacture.
